Foreign terrorism and aggression can take many forms. Generally we think in military terms, but
economic warfare is also a significant part of the arsenal.
The most recent and prominent example is that of the North
Korean government, which was responsible for hacking Sony, and threatening
movie theaters, causing both great economic losses to the company and lack of
choice to US consumers.
President Obama has vowed that the US will retaliate for
this act of terrorism.
There is another foreign group that is advocating an ongoing
form of economic terrorism in the US.
This is the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) Movement, a
Palestinian organization that encourages US companies, academic institutions,
and unions to boycott and divest from the state of Israel, an ally and great
friend of the US in the Middle East.
US stores are boycotted for carrying Israeli products, US
dock workers aren’t allowed to unload goods from Israeli ships (there are cases
where the union dock workers are even advocating for the boycott of Israel), US
universities are misled not to interact with Israeli academics nor invest funds
in Israeli companies – these are just a sample of the outcomes of BDS
activities which threaten US economic interests, as well as freedom of choice
for US consumers.
BDS purports to be a Palestinian grassroots organization
that only wants what they claim to be “Apartheid “Israel to accept a two-state
solution between Israel and the Palestinians.
Far from being grassroots, they follow in the footsteps of the Arab
League anti-Israel boycott, for which the US created anti-boycott laws specifically
to combat. Israel, rather than being
designated as an Apartheid state by the US, is actually considered as a great
friend of the US, a beacon of stability in the Middle East. And the two-state Israel-Palestinian solution
that BDS advocates is one which would enable millions of Palestinian Arabs to
move to Israel, causing the end of Israel as a Jewish state. Even the Palestinian Authority, the
Palestinian representative in the negotiations with Israel, has accepted that
this so-called Palestinian “Right of Return” is a non-starter.
BDS is a militant foreign organization, with ties to the
Hamas terrorist organization, attempting to hide their ulterior motives through
a shield of non-profit affiliation and sugar-coated messages.
The foreign BDS Movement must be stopped from negatively
impacting on the US economy.
